The particularly scenic hike starts at Alp Grüm train station.
From Alp Grüm train station, take the path that leads down to the right. The path leads through a larch and pine forest and crosses the tracks of the Rhaetian Railway twice.
The route is popular with hikers in summer and is also heavily used by bikers. But it always offers new views of the vast natural landscape, the Palügletscher, the plateau of Cavaglia and the Lago di Poschiavo in the distance.
The comfortable hiking trail leads mostly along the Bernina Line, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rhaetian Railway since 2008, through forests and alpine meadows via Stablini and La Dota to the village of Cavaglia.
Before taking the train to the north or south, we recommend a visit to the glacier garden to visit the extraordinary glacier pots and the gorge path in the Orrido di Cavaglia.
