From Cavaglia, which thanks to the construction of the railway and the power station was for several decades a village with a school, shops and restaurants, you descend past numerous well-preserved mountain houses surrounded by woods and pastures to Poschiavo, the capital of the valley.
A visit to the Cavaglia Glacier Garden is a must. The potholes were formed as a result of the strong water currents of the prehistoric glacier. The rotation of the stones carved the rock and produced smooth cavities.
