Tommaso Lardelli, architect of the emigrants
Tommaso Lardelli (1818-1908), a Reformed church schoolmaster from Poschiavo, married the daughter of emigrants who had made their fortune as pastry chefs. He left teaching and became, among other things, a notary, school inspector, grand councillor, merchant, banker, judge and mayor. On behalf of wealthy emigrants, he designed or had built, numerous grand homes, in the village, thus contributing to give it a stately and urban appearance.
